Chair Person’s Report

This is the report by Padma Rao who was the Chair Person at the time of the 2013 AGM.

In Chairperson’s reports it is almost a tradition to note how challenging the year has been for an organisation. Unfortunately, this has been the case for Sunderland BME Network Limited.
The last year saw a dramatic decrease in our funding, but with the help of volunteers and consultants, we have been able to keep things going.
Being successful in leading the funding bid for the Big Lottery Fund’s Communities Living Sustainably (CLS) programme has given us a new lease of life and has picked up on a strand of work that the Network has tried to engage black and minority ethnic communities in: that on environmental sustainability. In the previous year, we used support from the FCDL to deliver some training on One Planet Living. We have taken this concept into the CLS programme and found that a couple of our partners have also been working on the same theme.
